ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE RESEARCH PROJECT PRESENTED

The presentation of the Artificial Intelligence Research project (AIR) and a round table entitled "Fintech: technology at the service of capital" were held in the premises of the Zagreb Stock Exchange.

The AIR project was financed by the EBRD through the Taiwan Business EBRD Technical Cooperation fund, and its goal is to create an advanced solution for the valuation of companies based on AI.

Ambassador Katharine Chang, Head of Mission at the Austrian Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, addressed the participants on their behalf: Taiwan is proud to cooperate with EBRD to support the Zagreb Stock Exchange’s (ZSE) initiative in integrating AI solutions into research coverage. Taiwan excels in ICT and smart solutions, and boasts a vibrant capital market. Our experience and solutions could be relevant to Croatia’s capital market development. ZSE and Taipei Exchange has a standing cooperation dating back since 2017. I’m optimistic the outcomes of this project will be interesting for Taiwanese institutions and could pave way for deeper collaboration between Taiwan and Croatia.”

The project was presented by Kristijan Cinotti, Managing Partner of the consulting company Mazars, which is a participant in the project along with the company Poslovna inteligencija, a provider of IT solutions.

One of the difficulties faced by listed companies in Croatia and comparable regional markets is the absence of analyses, which makes it difficult for investors to make investment decisions. The availability of such analyses also contributes to the transparency of the market, and the goal of the solution is to provide access to the valuation for all stakeholders.

The benefits will also be reflected in a significant reduction in the time required for data collection and less reliance on human resources, which will also mean a reduced possibility of errors, the possibility of making stock valuations faster, and enabling the use of a simple tool for data analysis.

The solution should be live by the end of 2024.

The round table on the role of technological innovations in the financial industry gathered Ivana Gažić, President of the Management Board of the Zagreb Stock Exchange; Slađana Krpić, member of the Board of Poslovna inteligencija; Ivan Kurtović, President of the Management Board of InterCapital Asset Management, and Attila Tóth, Principal at the EBRD's Capital & Financial Market Development team, moderated by Andrija Garofulić, partner in the Financial Advisory Department of Mazars in Croatia.

The participants concluded that fintech can bring a number of benefits for all stakeholders of the capital market and that such innovative solutions are necessary to provide added value to users. Structured data management enables their transformation into new insights for investors, leading to more efficient management of investment decisions.
