Zagreb, September 7, 2023 ‒ Zagreb Stock Exchange has become the holder of the Premium Green Certificate, which is awarded to companies for their positive contribution to the environment and the community.The certificate is awarded by the largest private information intermediary, the company Elektronički računi, and brings together companies for whom environmental and community care, as well as digitalization, are integral parts of their business identity.
Zagreb Stock Exchange promotes paperless operations through its business processes as one of the ways to achieve sustainable development goals. Additionally, it strives to positively impact the environment and the community by involving employees in socially significant projects, digitalizing processes, and conducting business.
Furthermore, since its inception, it has placed exceptional emphasis on educating the public about topics related to capital markets, which in 2010 led to the establishment of the Zagreb Stock Exchange Academy, currently the largest provider of financial market education services in Croatia. Through the Academy's programs, more than 10,000 individuals have participated to date, with over 70% of them receiving free education, with a special focus on the youth.
Zagreb Stock Exchange is also a member of the UN's Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative, which aims to foster collaboration between stock exchanges, listed companies, regulators, investors, and other stakeholders with the goal of promoting sustainable investments while simultaneously improving business practices related to environmental, social, and corporate governance issues.
Since 2017, the Stock Exchange has also been collaborating with UNICEF Croatia to promote socially responsible business practices with a focus on children's rights. This partnership aims to raise awareness within the business sector about the importance of integrating children's rights into everyday business operations and management.
Through these and similar activities, the Zagreb Stock Exchange has committed to embracing progressive changes that align with the sustainability of global markets. This includes strengthening the Croatian market by adopting and promoting best practices in this area, recognizing that sustainability issues are increasingly at the forefront of investors' concerns.
