ZAGREB STOCK EXCHANGE ACADEMY CELEBRATES GLOBAL AND EUROPEAN MONEY WEEK
Over 6,000 young people educated for free so far

Zagreb, March 18, 2025 - The Zagreb Stock Exchange Academy is once again actively participating in the celebration of Global Money Week (www.globalmoneyweek.org) and European Money Week (europeanmoneyweek.eu).

Global Money Week is a leading global event focused on raising awareness about the importance of financial education and financial inclusion for children and youth. To date, over 60 million children and young people in 176 countries have participated in activities related to these initiatives.

The activities of Money Week are aimed at raising the level of financial literacy among young people through various forms of formal and informal education, enabling them to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors needed to make sound financial decisions from an early age.

In light of the globalization of financial products and services markets, and the increased digitalization, consumers are being offered increasingly complex financial products and services. There is a growing imbalance between the available information and resources held by financial product and service providers on one hand, and the users of these products and services on the other. Therefore, it is even more important to focus on strengthening educational capacities in the field of finance.

The Zagreb Stock Exchange Academy joined Money Week activities back in 2014, when the event was first celebrated in Croatia. Since then, more than 1,600 students from Croatia and abroad have participated in Academy events related to Money Week.

This year, the Academy will hold lectures for students from Čakovec, Dugo Selo, Maruševec, Moravice, Pitomača, Šibenik, and Zagreb, as well as for a group of students from Belgium, providing them with basic knowledge about the capital markets and stock exchange trading. In collaboration with the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the Agency for Education, and the Ministry of Finance, the Academy is also participating in additional Money Week activities aimed at educators and students.

The Academy also manages the online stock market simulation "Virtual Stock Exchange," which has over 25,000 registered users and has been used for over 15 years in education related to capital markets at several economic and related faculties, as well as at high schools.

Founded in 2010, the Zagreb Stock Exchange Academy is now the largest provider of financial market education services in Croatia, with more than 16,000 participants and over 130 educational programs. It places great emphasis on socially responsible business practices and enhancing financial literacy among the general population, particularly young people. In addition to participating in the work of the Operational Working Group for monitoring the implementation of measures and activities defined in the Action Plan for the Improvement of Financial Literacy of Consumers of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the Academy has so far provided free education to more than 6,000 young people.
