More than 5,700 young people have been educated for free

Zagreb, 18 March 2024 - The Zagreb Stock Exchange Academy is once again actively involved in the celebration of Global Money Week (www.globalmoneyweek.org) and European Money Week  (europeanmoneyweek.eu).

World Money Week is the leading global event to raise awareness about the importance of financial education and financial inclusion for children and young people. So far, over 60 million children and young people in 176 countries have participated in the activities of these initiatives.

Money Week activities are aimed at raising the level of financial literacy among young people through various forms of formal and informal education, so that they acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors necessary for making sound financial decisions from an early age.

Due to the globalization of the market of financial products and services and increased digitalization, consumers are offered increasingly complex financial products and services. This has led to a growing imbalance between the available information and resources possessed by financial product and service providers on one side and consumers of financial products and services on the other side. Therefore, it is even more important to work on strengthening educational capacities in the field of finance.

The Academy of the Zagreb Stock Exchange joined the Money Week activities back in 2014, since it has been celebrated in Croatia. So far, more than 1,400 students from all over Croatia and abroad have participated in activities related to this initiative.

This year, the Academy will hold lectures for students from Dugo Selo, Čakovec, Šibenik and Zagreb, thereby providing them with basic knowledge about the capital market and stock trading. In cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the Agency for Education and the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Education, the Academy will participate in additional activities of the Week of Money intended for educators.

The Academy also manages an online simulation of stock market trading called "Virtual Stock Exchange", which has so far registered more than 25,000 users, and which has been used for 15 years in classes related to capital markets at several economic and related faculties, colleges and high schools.

The Zagreb Stock Exchange Academy was founded in 2010 and today is the largest provider of financial market education services in Croatia, with more than 12,000 participants and over 100 educational programs. It pays great attention to socially responsible business and strengthening the financial literacy of the general population with an emphasis on young people. In addition to participating in the work of the Operational Working Group for monitoring the implementation of measures and activities defined by the Action Plan for Improving Consumer Financial Literacy of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, through its activities the Academy has so far provided free education for more than 5,700 young people.
