Slovenian investment firm Ilirika borzno posredniška hiša d.d., based in Ljubljana, has become a new member of the Zagreb Stock Exchange, gaining membership through remote access (remote membership). This marks the first time that a foreign investment firm has acquired such status on the Zagreb Stock Exchange.

We are pleased to welcome Ilirika as the first remote member of the Zagreb Stock Exchange. In addition to representing a concrete step towards stronger integration of the Croatian and Slovenian capital markets, this is particularly significant as it expands the network of international intermediaries that can provide investors with easier access to the Croatian market. At the same time, the fact that Croatian members have been present on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange for many years, and that we now welcome a Slovenian member to the Zagreb Stock Exchange, demonstrates that market integration can work very well in both directions at this level as well, said Ivana Gažić, President of the Management Board of the Zagreb Stock Exchange.

Acquiring membership status does not in itself mean that trading will commence. Ilirika is required to fulfil the trading admission requirements set out in Article 22 of the Zagreb Stock Exchange Rules no later than three months from the date of the decision on its admission to membership. Once these requirements have been met, Ilirika will be able to start providing its clients with trading services on the Zagreb Stock Exchange.

Ilirika is one of Slovenia’s leading investment firms, with more than 35 years of experience in the capital markets. The admission of the first foreign investment firm to the Zagreb Stock Exchange further confirms the openness of the Croatian market to international market participants, as well as the potential for cross-border integration of regional capital markets.
