The Zagreb Stock Exchange organized free education on gender equality and financial markets in co-organization of the United Nations Sustainable Stock Markets Initiative, of which the Zagreb Stock Exchange is a member.

Gender equality is a complex topic that can discourage people of either gender from addressing it in the workplace. However, as one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 5) and as a fundamental human right, gender equality has become increasingly important for the capital market.

Education enabled participants to build awareness of sustainable finance through understanding the financial implications of gender inequality, improving corporate reporting and literacy on gender equality, and identifying market opportunities that these improvements afford.

Education on gender equality is a great introduction to the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality initiative, which will be held again this year on International Women's Day for the tenth year in a row at more than 100 world stock exchanges where the symbolic sound of the bell marks the start of trading.

Zagreb Stock Exchange will host Ring the Bell for Gender Equality ceremony for the seventh year in a row to highlight the important role of the business sector in promoting gender equality, in order to achieve sustainable development goals and raise awareness of women's empowerment.
