A contract on the listing of bonds of the City of Varaždin was signed on the Zagreb Stock Exchange.The document was signed by a member of the Management Board of the Zagreb Stock Exchange, Tomislav Gračan, and the Mayor of Varaždin, Ivan Čehok.
After the signing, the Mayor Ivan Čehok stated: "The investors’ interest speaks best of their trust of in the City of Varaždin, taking into account not only what the city is today, but also what the city will be tomorrow. Significant steps have been made towards the city of new technologies, which is clearly evidenced by new investments in the Technology Park and investments in the Brezje Economic Zone. The listing of bonds on the Official Market of the Zagreb Stock Exchange will certainly contribute to strengthening the reputation of the City of Varaždin and attracting new investments, as well as raising the transparency of the city's operations."
ZSE Board member Tomislav Gračan added: "This is the first listing of municipal bonds since 2008. We are extremely glad that the City of Varaždin has decided on this model of raising capital. Each new issue represents a further impetus for transparency and development of the domestic capital market, and thus expands the range of investment opportunities in the Croatian market. Municipal bonds are a very attractive financial instrument globally, and so far they have definitely been underrepresented in our market. We hope that other local governments will recognize the advantages of this way of raising capital for their development needs."
The first day of trading in bonds of the City of Varaždin will be April 16, 2021.
