President of the Management Board of the Zagreb Stock Exchange elected to the advisory body of the European Securities and Capital Markets Authority
Zagreb, 23 June 2020 - The President of the Management Board of the Zagreb Stock Exchange, Ivana Gažić, has been appointed to the Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group (SMSG) of ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority).
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s securities markets regulator, has published the new list of members of its Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group (SMSG) following approval by its Board of Supervisors. The SMSG will provide ESMA with advice on its policy work and must be consulted on technical standards, guidelines and recommendations.
The SMSG facilitates consultation between ESMA and its key financial market stakeholders and it can flag inconsistent applications of European Union (EU) law as well as inconsistent supervisory practices in Member States. The SMSG is composed of 30 individuals who represent the interests of different categories of financial market stakeholders.
I am extremely honored to be elected to this eminent body of ESMA and I hope that with my experience and expertise I can contribute to an open discussion on EU capital markets. I am very motivated to actively participate in the work of SMSG, and I will be especially committed to solving the challenges faced by smaller markets such as, for example, Croatian and Slovenian, said Ivana Gažić, President of the Zagreb Stock Exchange.
The selected individuals begin a four-year term on 1 July 2020.
