In accordance with the National Plan for the Changeover from the Croatian kuna to the euro, the Croatian Parliament adopted the Law on the introduction of the euro as the official currency in the Republic of Croatia (OG 57/2022, hereinafter: the Law). at its session held on May 13, 2022. The Law entered into force on July 15, 2022.

On July 21, 2022, the Government of the Republic of Croatia passed the Decision on the adoption by Croatia of the euro (OG 85/22) according to which the euro will become the official currency in the Republic of Croatia from January 1, 2023. The Decision entered into force on July 23, 2022.

Zagreb Stock Exchange d.d. is a signatory of the Code of Ethics for the introduction of the euro as the official currency in the Republic of Croatia.

Fixed conversion rate

The fixed conversion rate established in Council Regulation (EU) 2022/1208 according to which the national currency Croatian kuna will be exchanged for the euro has been set at:
EUR1 € = 7,53450 HRK

First Trading Day in the Euro, 01/02/2023

Trading in the new currency – the euro – will commence on 2 January, which is the first trading day in 2023. 

As an exception to the regular trading schedule, on the first day of euro trading, the opening auction under the continuous trading model will be extended. Instead of ending at 9:30 AM, the opening auction will run until 11:00 AM.

The last day of trading on the Stock Exchange in the HRK currency was 28 December 2022. Pursuant to Article 175, Paragraph 1, Point 3,  of the Exchange Rules, due to the change of the trading currency, all orders in the trading system were cancelled on 28 December 2022.

 

Market prices expressed in the kuna (shares, ETFs) are converted in accordance with the Act and tick size regime based on the closing prices on 28 December 2022, as the last day of trading in the kuna.
