We will press on with our designated business plans, increasing operating efficiency and profitability and developing business reporting quality, and will continue to enhance high transparency and reporting standards. This award is both an encouragement and a responsibility in our further business development towards creating added value for the company, based on a relationship of harmony with all our stakeholders.
The biggest increase in turnover was achieved in trading the shares of Atlantska plovidba d.d. The award was presented to CFO Duško Vladović Relja, who said: We are honoured and thank you for the award. We would like to emphasise how extremely important, as well as beneficial for our shareholders, it is that our share price also increased significantly. We believe that further improvements of conditions in the bulk freight market will have an impact on our liquidity and on the value of our stock in next year 2017, as well.
Interkapital vrijednosni papiri d.o.o. won this year's Member of the Year Award, which was received by Management Board Member Danijel Delač, saying: It is an exceptional pleasure to be the winner of another Zagreb Stock Exchange award for the Member of the Year. We will strive to continue spearheading the market development, convinced that the rest of the community will join in our efforts.
The ZSE Academy Award for Extraordinary Contribution to Capital Market Education went to mathematician and educator Toni Milun. In his absence, the award was received by Anita Cvetnić, co-author and script co-writer for the popular TV serial Financijalac. Today we have many ways of earning, many types of savings, credits and financial instruments, and yet financial literacy of the average citizen remained at the same level as 30 years ago. I consider it my duty as an educator to contribute to the financial education. Therefore, I am happy that the hard work of the whole team from the TV show Financijalac was recognized by the viewers, but also by the profession through this award, said Toni Milun.
The Award for Extraordinary Contribution to the Capital Market Development was presented to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
This award truly means a lot to us because capital market development is built into the foundations of our strategy. It is our goal, together with the Zagreb Stock Exchange, to develop a platform for financing SMEs and start-ups, which still find it hard to access capital. The capital market development can help economic growth through real sector financing, said Vedrana Jelušić Kašić, EBRD director for Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Hungary.
The title of the Stock of the Year, as voted by the public, was awarded to Valamar Riviera d.d.
The fact that the public has recognised Valamar Riviera as one of the pioneers of growth and development of Croatia's tourism sector and capital market is a major endorsement for us. The award won in such strong competition confirms both our business excellence, and high communication and reporting standards, which we improved further by organising the Investor Day this year. Our company has been recognised as a leader in creating new value for shareholders, increasing market capitalisation and providing attractive and sustainable dividend in the long run. We will continue to work on this. We would like to thank everyone for voting the shares of Croatia's biggest hotel company Stock of the Year – it is a strong motivation for us to remain the best, Marko Čižmek, Member of the Management Board of Valamar Riviera d.d., commented.
We are very happy to have founded the Zagreb Stock Exchange Awards, which have turned into a truly nice and valuable tradition. By presenting these awards, we would like to send a strong message to the entire investment community, as well as to the public, that hard work, value and excellence do eventually get recognised and rewarded, President of the Management Board Ivana Gažić said, congratulating all the winners, at the close of the event.
