Zagreb Stock Exchange hosted 'Ring the bell for Gender Equality'
In celebration of International Women’s Day (8 March 2018), Zagreb Stock Exchange was one of more than 60 stock exchanges that hosted a bell ringing ceremony to raise awareness of the pivotal role the private sector can play in advancing gender equality to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 5.

The global events are organized in conjunction with UN Women, Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, IFC, Women in ETFs, and World Federation of Exchanges and Croatian event was organized by Zagreb Stock Exchange and Hrvatska udruga poslodavaca - Croatian Employers`​ Association, the representative of the UN's initiative Global Compact for Croatia.

Ivana Gažić  (CEO of ZSE), Davor Majetic (Director General of HUP) and Minister of Finance Zdravko Maric rang the trading bell.


The Global Compact, a United Nations Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Initiative, employs 13,000 members in over 170 countries and local networks in more than 85 countries, making it the world's largest sustainable development initiative that brings together, alongside the business sector, representatives of the academic community, civil society, government, business associations and the UN itself.

Local ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality’ event is jointly organized by The Zagreb Stock Exchange and Croatian Employers' Association. CEA has been the headquarter center/representative of the UN's initiative Global Compact for Croatia, thus promoting the principle of corporate social responsibility among its members.

By joining this initiative, Zagreb Stock Exchange aims to bring further attention to the importance of gender equality to economic growth and development, as well as highlight the role of the private sector in recognition of the importance of advancing gender equality throughout business operations.
